Winchester model 101 12 gauge

Shotty's are what you call black and green shotguns all cut down and pistol gripped so they are totally useless for actual shooting. Like in a video game.
Over and under shotguns like a 101 or a Citori, Superposed, Beretta's guns etc. deserve to be called by their proper names. Maybe you're not ready for the O/U club!

Do I have to resign from the O/U club and sell off my collection if I use the term Shotty or Shottie ? Oops, I may just have committed the above sin 
Seriously though, I would't want to exclude nor discourage someone from pursuing ownership of an O/U due to certain word usage.
The Japanese(Olin Kondesha) guns were made in the style of the Browning O/U's. I have personally owned a few examples over the years and am of the opinion they were well made and performing guns. There were several grade levels produced, level of receiver engraving and wood generally being the difference. Some people find that for them, felt recoil is excessive. Several reasons are thought to be responsible such as light weight, comb thinness and / or stock configuration. My experience has been that felt recoil was
not excessive or unpleasant except for 1 later production 12 gauge marked as a "Lightweight".
I have not handled nor shot the Belgian produced 101's, however I have read more than several owners statements of high quality and performance and no complaints. These 101's receivers / lockups are more of a Beretta style of trunnion hinge low profile design.

thanks for the information,...this is an OLIN Kondesha product....28" barrel...VERY clean and very good shape. Wood looks almost reddish in color. It is from an estate of a person who cleaned it more than he shot it. There appears to be lots of engraving on it, with some on the trigger guard as well. Just wondering what would be a good price on such an item?
All Japanese 101's had engraving on the receivers. Is the receiver blued (most likely a field grade) or silver colored (Pidgeon grade or higher) ? Fixed or choke tubes ? Your best bet to identify what grade you are looking at is to visit sites like gunsinternational and gunbroker and search the Winchester O/U's with pics and see what looks the same. This will give you some idea of the inflated values asked in the states that do not get paid in Canada. A field grade 12 ga in mint shape is about a $600 to $ 800 gun to me.
