Winchester Model 12 price check

I bought a model 12 16 gauge field grade last summer for $225.00. Pretty much no bluing but no rust anywhere. I paid on the high end in my mind. Apparently, these go for a lot more south of the border, at least to hear people talk. There is a bit of a discussion right now on another forum where a fellow just sold one in the US for $600.00 and it had the stock redone and had been dura coated instead of original finish. Average ones are selling for $6-$700.00 supposedly. Then there was talk of heavy duck models with vent ribs selling for 7-$1200.00 or more if it has a 32" barrel. I had a model 12 super x 3" and I had to basically give it away compared to reported US prices. I know where there is a heavy duck with 32" barrel listed for $499.00 and some say it is too high. Bottom line, I guess if you want to get top dollar for a model 12, you need to be south of the border.

Personally, I like those Model 1912's......pre 1920-21 they were marked as yours and then went through the Winchester 'modernization' program which dumped the model years in favour of the two digit system. I have a Tournament Grade Model 1912 from 1916 with a straight grip and solid rib that is a marvellous shotgun and I didn't spend more than $225 for it.
