hi there
im looking for some help on a little problem im having. my winchester model 12 is having a bit of an issue and i was wondering if i can fix it myself or if i have to take it in.
i can put a shell into it, and load it no problem. but when i try to put the other 2 shells into it, it just spits them out and wont hold them in the magazine. i havnt tried taking it apart just yet but i was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem, and if so what can i do myself to fix it? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The bolt has a tab that stops the shells in the magazine when the action is closed. Shells will spit out of the mag when the action is closed if the carrier is not all the way bottomed. The model 12 does not have shell stops like a 870 or Mossy 500. First time I loaded one I thought it was broken too. The model 12's shell stop only comes into play when the action is opened. I hope this solves the issue. They are GOOD shotguns.

regards, Darryl

One thing to watch with model 12 is the big head screw that serves as a pivot for the shell elevator on the left of the trigger unit; sometimes it works itself just a bit loose.
Nothing a little dab of Loctite Blue won't solve but if you have to tighten it up, remember that it is a LEFT-HAND thread.
