I have one in barely used condition. It's from the late 50's I think, 12 gauge, 30 inch barrel. Blue is 98%. Original plastic butt plate. What's it worth?

Model 12

If its a plain field model with non-rib barrel Iwould a value of $300.00 to $350.00. They are lots of them out there.

That's my expereience too. Saw one at Dante Sports for $300.00 last year. I think their value is low because of the steel shot requirements for waterfowl.
IMHO best and slickest pumper out there.

I totally agree, it's my favorite pump I have shot. Before I knew about steel and lead shot going through shotguns I put about 30 rounds of steel BB through my barrel. Not good to say the least. But it wasn't affected. Not that the eye can see anyway. Winchester built one heck of a gun.

Yep I have a mod 1912 2nd issue in 20 guage(1917)nickle steel barrell, and some fool either fired steel (or 2&3/4)through it and ringed the barrell(about 1 inch from the front bead).

If I ever shoot it i will use 2&9/16 or 1/2 inch shells.

does the ringed barrell kill it's patterning ability?

Bob

Some things to look at as far as Win Mod 12 are concerned:
1- Date of manufacture
2- Military or not
3- Barrel length, barrel ribbed (solid or ventilated), factory installed cutts or not, choke- full, modified, cylinder etc
4- Whether it is a Skeet, trap or field gun
5- Stock- 3 grades of wood-plain, semi fancy or custom
6- Calibre- 12,16 or 20 etc.
7- NRA condition
Hope this helps a little.

Why ask us? It's your gun, take it out and pattern it.

Never shot it yet, still trying to find some 2&9/16 or 1/2 inch shells for it.

just wondering if anybody else has a gun with a ringed barrel, and if it effects the pattern.

That was the question no?

First shotgun I ever shot, many years ago, was a 20 guage, nickel coloured, Winchester Model 12! I think that is the same as yours. The one I shot, which was my brothers, shot standard shells. Are you sure yours doesn't take standard 20 guage 2 3/4 inch?

no mine is a mod 1912(in 1925 they started calling them mod12)like the Win 1894 then the mod 94,and nickle steel is what the barrel is made of not the color. In 1925 the 20 guage went from 2&9/16th to 2&3/4 inch shells.

Mine has not been bored for the 2&3/4,as they modify the front of the reciever to make it large enough for the longer shell to eject .

Thanks Bob, you sure know a lot more about those guns than I do!
I was going to say nickel, then I wasn't sure, it's been a lifetime since I saw it, so to be safe I added the word, colour.
It was a beautiful little gun, though. Too bad yours is ringed.
