Your Kidding right? a Whimpy extractor would break, not tear the brass. Nineteen years my 1300 has been pounding out slugs, many thousands, never a problem. If your shells are getting stuck, your shotgun needs a good cleaning and by the sounds of it a polishing now. If your 1300 is working properly, with one round in the shotgun, chamber and fire without holding the fore stock. It should shoot and self eject. This is why the 1300 was the fastest pump action made.
 
I bought a 28" vented rib 1300 in 1991 Has at least 2000 rounds through it and is as almost as new as the day I bought it. Awsome gun my buddys all like to shoot it too. Nice smooth and everyone shoots good with it, from clay to ducks ,Cheers

Coming from a guy that never owned or shot one! Eighteen years plus shooting, 10's of thousands of rounds of slugs down the pipe. Never a problem yet you know

Hey Apple RELAX! I love my 1300 but if you compare the extractor to ANY other pump shotgun you will realize the difference. Have never had this problem with any other ammo. Combination of super hot shell, thin brass and WHIMPY extractor. No problem ever with any other ammo. Forgot to mention that I also had a 20ga youth that would fail to extract about 50% of the time with cheap target loads. As far as extracting and ejecting itself I try to use both hands when firing super hot turkey loads and slugs. If you are going to keep your 1300 for eternity then maybe I could interest you in a 22" turkey/ 22" full rifled slug combo. I'm switching up to a sturdier pump for all my shotgun hunting.
 
I have a 1300 Defender. Never fails to fire. Awesome little shotty. The remington is way overpriced for what it is. If I were to replace it ,it would be the Mossy or the Benelli.

FTE is the most common problem i have encountered
The speed factor is also overated. I've shot them all and afew fractions of a second between shots isn't noticeable in a hunting or multiple target situation. Fast but still slower than any semi or double.
