I was given 4 guns, and one is a winchester 140 semi auto 12 gauge thats 2 3/4, 28" barrel, and screw in choke tube. Only have a single modified choke, but I think other winchester shotguns use the same, so they are easy to get. Gun works good, and is in really nice condition, with excellent blueing, and judging by its great condition, its not be used much.

I think I am selling it, but dont know if its a $200 gun or a $500 gun, or if has any collectors value in keeping...which I doubt though.

They are the same as the 1400.

I'd say between $250 and $400.

Some people say they are RARE. They are rare because they were never a hot seller.

Do some research and you will find they were not winchesters best. Right now someone has a model 50 on the EE started at $1500. A week later $1000. By next week prob $500.

I'd say between $250 and $400.

To me they were rare because they were a more enonomical version of the 1400 which was a better gun for a bit more money so most went with the 1400.
Normally birch wood vs walnut etc, win choke is a plus, hold up Ok for hunting but not for any great amount of shooting
Value in canada seem to be pretty much what the books say 150 to 275 pending condition. I think 250-400 is way too high but I have been wrong before
No collector value that I am aware of .. She is a shooter for sure. take care

Actually that is incorrect...the Model 50 (and Model 59) is an entirely different gun than the 1400 series (1400, 1400 MKII 140, 1500 & 1500XTR). The Model 50 is a short-recoil operated gun and has a floating chamber (like the Colt's Ace pistol) and a bolt similar to that of the Model 12 whereas the 1400series is a gas operated gun with a rotating bolt head. Neither the Model 50 nor the Model 1400 is rare per say but both do have certain models that will command a slight premium...although nothing as ridiculous as the Model 12 pump action guns.

To the OP...value is $300 for a like new specimen and an average "good" gun is no more than $250.

Thats about what I figured. Since its not a 3" gun, I think, it would be best for upland hunting, and a cheap way to get into sporting clays...I will take pics & list it tonight...If I cant get atleast $200 for it, then it will go to the hunt camp as a back up shotgun I think.

Thanks for the clarification on the model 50.
