Hey everyone
Purchased this beautiful rifle and I now have no use for it It is like I said above a Winchester model 1892 44-40. It has a 24 inch barrel with a metal cresent butt plate. I may be looking to sell for the right price but if anyone can tell me anything interesting about it including possible value that would be great.

Have the twin to that other than mine has the round barrel.
Mine goes back to 1910.
You have a piece of history there.
Not too often they come in that shape.
Have you shot it at all?
Run the serial number thru one of those date your Winchester sites.
If it were me, well I'd be tempted to keep it.
Nice looking lever that is.

mines dated to 1908 so right around the same time as yours ....i have shot it the guy i bought it off of had some hand loads that he threw in for me and its a good straight shooter i had a good laugh the first time i shot it a friend of mine quoted it better that its like shooting a 22 on steroids lol

iv heard people use this style of rifle for things like cowboy action shooting is that what your into ?

Ya got me scratching my head. First was a BB gun, then an old Cooey. The 44-40 and a pump .410 all before I was ten I believe. I remember hunting deer up Indian Arm and there was seagull standing in a bit of water. The old boy told me to try and hit that gull. Perhaps a hundred yards or slightly less away. Aim, pull the trigger, lift head and watch the water
splash the gull. Pop said good shooting, aim a bit higher. Forty plus years ago. I don't use it much other than to fondle it. I had it out a few years back just to pacify my hunting buddy. He wanted to shoot it. Bad mistake, now he wants it. The blueing on yours looks pristine. Has it been redone or is it all original?
PM sent........
Looky.
