I had to say that and figured with my recent purchase I qualified.
I picked up a Winchester Model 1892 today and I am pretty stoked. All my guns are black synthetic tacticools, except this little gem. I had been thinking about a lever action rifle for a while now and once shouldered; I knew the 1892 was the one!

I also shouldered; Mossberg, Henry (Mares Leg), and Marlins. But none see to fit me as perfectly as the 1892.

So I was hoping to get some pointers, tips and advice from any other owners out their on CGN. I haven't shot it yet, tomorrow. I've just been rubbing it all night with an oily cloth and grimacing at finger prints b/c really it's a beautiful little thing it is. I should mention, it's chambered 357 mag and I will be using it for hunting. The fellow at the shop advised me that I could shoot 38spl for target practice; just not wad cutters. Does anybody have any advice on that?

As they say where are the pictures

To make it easer to clean --if you reload use 357 brass and you will not have a carbon ring in the chamber
you have to clean the ring out with a brush
some people have no problems with 38 spl

do you reload ?

Congrats on your purchase. Wad cutters may not feed reliably. For the best function usd round nose flat point bullets. Also the best way to shoot these guns is to not wrap the thumb over the wrist of the stock. You are able to work the lever faster if you can keep that thumb out of the way. cheers jed

I would like to use Larger ghost ring siguts; does anybody know if they are available for the 1892. Or have alternate basic open sight suggestions?
 
I have a win. 94 in .357 and shoot .38s and .357 mostly semi wadcutters they feed very well. aperture sights are avaliable and i would recomend them
 
There are a number of receiver sights available. Simply remove the rear aperture for ghost ring, or screw it back in for fine target work.

Mine is an original '92, and I'm using the Williams 5D. There are lots of other sights out there with finer adjustments than the 5D's loosen the screw and slide system.

All the advice, suggestions and "congratulatories" are very much appreciated; and remind me of how great a community CGN has allowed us Canucks with like minded interests to build.
