I am about to acquire a Winchester 1895, military version. I am not familiar with this rifle and would appreciate any direction where I could get some information on disassembly and maintenance for it. Do manuals exist?

Logically, they dont have any of that stuff anymore. If they're getting rid of their war stocks of semi-auto stuff like the SVT's and now SKS's....the older bolt and levers are long gone.....

I will still dream there is a dusty forgotten warehouse somewhere, but I doubt there are many left.

They're probably in that area that was removed from all the maps in the 60s.

There were a bunch of 95 Winchesters brought in in the late 60s. Most of them were ridden hard and put away wet. They were beaten beyond belief and looked to have been used as DP rifles. The bores were shot out, the metal was pitted and bluing was non existent. There was the odd good one in the pallet full I saw at Lever Arms. Good only, nothing better or I would have bought one. I really wonder what happened to all of those beaters? Many were purchased as parts rifles.

As far as Russia having them stored away in some warehouse, I am doubtful, but I like the idea of it. One of the problems with many of the stored capture rifles is that they weren't all stored in Russia. Many of the warehouses were in satellite countries and we've seen many pics of what those countries do with those old stores and the huge bonfires they build.

I'm pretty sure when folks are buying "Russian" surplus they are actually buying former Soviet satellite state surplus.

I agree Calum, I doubt the RUssians have much of anything left except lots of reserve AK's.

Then again, the whole story about IMA getting into the old Armoury in Nepal and finding stocks of arms from the generations still gives me hope that someone (even the satellites) have some old stuff sitting around somewhere.
