I own a 1902 production "C" series Model 1897 Winchester "Black Diamond" Shotgun with the word "Trap" marked on the bolt. The gun has a number matching two barrel set in 30" Full and 26" Cyl.(Skeet?). The barrels have bright mirror shiny bores and almost all the bluing which has turned dark and dull with age. The checkering on the foreends is excellent on the 26" and good on the 30". The straight stock checkering is weak as the high grade walnuts stock was sanded and refinished. The buttplate is original and uncracked. I think given the condition of the bores and the smooth and tight action that the gun was well cared for and probably well used especially with the 30" barrel set.The receiver has less than 10% bluing. There is also a poor and incomplete "leg o' mutton" Winchester gun case included. I am looking to sell this gun and hope that someone familiar with the value of this model can put me in the ballpark as to its value.
