Winchester Model 21 28 Gauge

Bill, that gun is amazing. I like everything about it except the double triggers. Two barrel cased set, the price is very reasonable.
Interesting that it has double triggers. Most Model 21 guns ,seem to have single triggers.I wonder if it was a special order gun? 29 inch barrels does seem to be an odd length as well.Double triggers and 29 inch barrels, does seem to suggest a special order gun.:)

Here's a CSMC M21 20/28 ga two barrel set. Has double triggers, ejectors, #1 engraving, cased with accessories. The 28 ga has 29" solid rib barrels with Briley choke tubes and weighs 6lb 8 oz. The 20 ga has 30" barrels, 3", solid rib, Briley choke tubes and weighs 1 oz more than the 28 ga.
Asking price is $14,950 but is sold pending.
This should spark some interest.

Beautiful gun.

I was raised on double triggers so to me they are familiar and it’s much faster to option for the right or left barrel than to have a selector pushed one way or another and then ‘go for it’. Only downside is cold weather, gloves and getting your fat pinkys in between the 2 triggers and the also the guard.

My bank just created a USA account for me today. What a coincidence!! How did they know I was planning a M21 28g trip to CSMC in the near future?? Is this a sign from the NEG Gods ???? Ours is not to reason why, ours is to do or die !!!! Cheers …

I had the chance to handle one of these years ago. It’s a real beauty but very heavy, more of a mantle trophy. Great piece to own nonetheless.

It is the same for myself Bill.the double triggers are a bit of a pain in cold weather with heavy gloves or mitts.

Yes it would appear that the NEG Gods are lining up for you to have to get one of those 28 gauge Model 21 guns.:)

Some are saying " Very Heavy"? At 6 lbs 8 oz what's not to like. I have two 20 ga Browning Superpose Lightnings. One is spot on 6 oz and the other is an oz heavier. I doubt an extra 8 oz over my S/P Lightnings would be much of a problem. Not for me anyways, even older now, I would like to think I could carry that gun all day long. Problem is I'd be looking at the gun admiring it, and not paying attention, and most likely miss the birds.

Mr Bill. Another place/event you might consider visiting south of the border is the Southern SxS in NC during late April. My understanding is it's an eye opening assemblage of vintage SxS for sale, with an extremely strong bias towards American makes.

My Browning superposed in 20g that I bought brand new in the box about 15 years ago is magical. I have never missed a crow with it (when I’m by myself) but I must confess it COST me a bundle!!…a Kimber hi-grade .22 in trade, a shopping bag full of cash, 2 pints of blood and 3 polaroid pictures of my ex-girlfriend. If I ever find a 28 gauge browning superposed, I have no idea what it might cost me. I love all my browning citori 28g toys but they are just not quite the same as a superposed. I remember having a bad slip and fall on ice and doing a cat like contortion mid flight as to not bump or scratch my shotgun. Something like a pregnant woman not falling on her belly but on her behind. My knee took a twist and Im still walking funny but the Browning is still mint. The sacrifices we make….
Found a nice steak house near CMSC already and North Carolina is on the way home from Florida…my NEG friends on CGN are a bad influence. Cheer !!

Thanks for that nice post.It gave me a few chuckles.:)I know of a fellow who has a Browning Superposed in 28 gauge. He is a 28 gauge fan and the gun was left to him.

Well, Mr. Canvasback you have a history of and have admitted to tormenting Model 21 admirers for your own enjoyment and satisfaction and when someone contradicts your negativity you get all messed up. If you dislike Model 21's that much why bother stirring the pot and getting involved just to bad mouth or throw a wet blanket on an enjoyable conversation by quoting your end all hate all expert in SxS info. No one here bad mouths the SxS shotguns you own or worship. If you can't stand the heat in the kitchen don't stand next to the stove. If your skin is that thin then stop trying to knock a legend off it's perch for your own gratification.
Nooo!! He never shows ANY bias towards the '21. ;)

This should get a reaction. I think most everyone reacting to the weight of a W21 are close to or over the age of 75 and cant do a full day in the field any longer. I said most not all. A 7lb gun was never a factor in my early years nowdays a pocket full of shells is to much extra weight. They are a nice gun in my books a little stout but nice.
There is alot of truth in that statement! I am only 62 but am really starting to appreciate lighter weight EVERYTHING not just guns. Heck when my wife traded in the FF's for a set of DD's I was not enthused but now I appreciate the uplifting gesture... :ROFLMAO:

In regards to the $24,950 M21 28 guage. It’s sad that some bafoon chewed the action screw in front of the trigger guard. Why would it have been touched on an unfired gun? Beautiful anyways but a shame!!
