Hello all - I have a Winchester Model 23 Pigeon Grade that I had bored out to Skeet 1 and Skeet 2 many years ago. Originally the gun was bored or Full and Modified. I’d like to restore the chokes back to Full and Mod. Can this be done? Do I go the choke tube route or can a gunsmith restore the barrels to the original choke dimensions? Thanks - I appreciate any past experiences here.

Contact Briley. If they can’t help you, no one can!! There’s a Canadian business that’s a Briley dealer. Illlook it up and repost.Lawry shooting sports is the official Briley dealer in Canada.

only briley could do it 1500-1800$ canadian round trip
Sadly i will go out on a limb and say even there thin wall won't like work you have had to much metal removed
my mistake on the pricing i was thinking bbl inserts not chokes
that being said 600-800$ canadian door to door

I wonder how many fine guns were handicapped by their owners who thought it was a good idea at the time to do such things punch out chokes or customizing ???.My favourite was during the LGR those who thought engraving their name and/or SIN on the receiver was a good idea. NOT :(

I have seen thin model 12 barrels modified with fixed tube inserts soldered in place wasn't a cheap endeavor even back in the day. As far as mods go i have never regretted my Simmons customs or most of my custom stocks all were worth the money. I agree most barrel mods come back to haunt you ex cutting, porting , mid beads.

Why change anything at all? You might find you get the effect you want by changing ammunition brands/shot cups etc. A few different boxes and a patterning board will be a lot easier and cheaper than trying to re-modify your barrels.

Briley can do it. They do not need alot of meat to install their thin wall series chokes. They have several series that are made specifically tailored to varying internal bore diameters. Lawry will ship it to them and back as the cross border broker for you. Ask to speak with Rick. $600 will get you the job and three chokes of your preferred constriction choice and you can order various more chokes including the VX series which are titanium and made to take steel shot if you need to shoot steel. You can choose chokes from skeet through to xtra-full. If memory serves there is 9 or 11 different constrictions you can choose from in their thin wall series. Ask for Rick when you call Lawry's. He'll take good care of you. I believe turnaround time is around 6 weeks. I've personally owned a Model 12, Super X-1 and a Perazzi MX8 that I've had Brileys installed in and all were superbly done and had zero issues.
