I was given an old winchester 37A 20 gauge single shot last year and it has sat in the cabinet ever since. I decided to redo the gun over as it was not the best condition. Only thing is im having trouble finding any info on dis-assembly and parts for the gun. Seems like all the info is on the older 37 model and not the 37a? Anyone with any info would be great to hear some of it.

Thanks for the reply all the parts were in alright working order, the forend spacer is the old plastic one I may upgrade to a metal piece but as for now im just going to reassemble after I restain and reblue the main parts and see how it turns out then if I want I will completely redo the entire gun.

There is a member here that sells the metal ones in the EE. Forget what his handle is but I bought one from him for an old 28ga cooey
Cheers

If the action is slightly loose when open rather than bending the extension that sticks through the fore end spacer (most people suggest doing this) just make a white line spacer out of a sour cream lid. The problem is the fore end wood has shrunk and putting a very thin shim between the wood and the spacer usually is enough to make it tight again. It also looks like it is supposed to be there. The model 37a is the same gun as the model 840 except for the stock dimensions, white line spacers, a bit of engraving and gold plated trigger. It was introduced in 1973.
