i picked up a model 50 and while cleaning i noticed the little keeper pin that keeps the buffer tube plug from possibly coming out was missing. i had some brass wire that i can only manage to half ass get to work, its too soft and its hard to get in right. anyone have any ideas on a better fix? would lock tight work instead of a keeper?

Get a proper pin from a local machine shop or even a drill of the correct size. Buzz it to length and insert it.
