Got an 82a here, but can't seem to marry the two together

I was thinking 82a but looked around and not it. I did see a Lyman dovetail base that looked close, but I don’t think it had the holes in the same spot.

I’d almost think maybe just a filler. I’ve got a Pre-A slow lock with a filler. I’ll try remember to check it out tomorrow when I get home. But I’m thinking the screw holes rule that out.

Just found an up close picture of the receiver of my rifle. Not the same.

The early 52 had a folding aperture sight mounted on the rear receiver bridge. Found a photo of one with the sight removed. I wonder it this wasn't to blank out the mounting area when the sight was removed, and a scope mounted.

It measures 2 1/4" x 1 1/8"

Would certainly fill the gap

My Winchester 52 has a large dovetail on the reciever 1.030 at the bottom.

It is a blank to fill the dovetail when the sight is not used as previously mentioned. The screw hole is used to lock it in position. It will fit the Pre-A Slow Locks, the Pre-A, and A models.
