Hey guys,I recently acquired a post 64' model 70 short action(no floorplate version) for the kingly sum of 100$,unfortunately the bore looks like a concrete sidewalk and the stock is lightly cracked across the grip.
What was hoping to do is first of all find out how hard/expensive it would be to replace the barrel for something heavier( would like to do the job myself),and secondly where to buy a synthetic target/precision style stock.I checked boyds(all they had where wood) and I found hogue's websight to be impossible to navigate through.
Thanks,
Hunter.

The barrel change will be no more difficult then a Rem 700. Remove the bbl, buy a new one, have it threaded, chambered and fitted, refinish as required. HS, McMillan, Brown, etc, etc, all make stocks for model 70's. Figure around the $700 range to procure a bbl and fit it. Stock will be 300 to 1200 depending on what you want. - dan
