This morning I was on my way to a family together and on the way stopped at a small gun shop 1.5 hours away. For the past year and a little I had been looking for a Model 70 Coyote Lite, just to have, no real need for it at all. And having no luck within Canada I gave up and settled for a featherweight...
Walking into the store expecting to look at and buy a featherweight, they happened to have a coyote lite in 308! Half hour and $1200 later I was walking out of the store with a brand new FN Winchester and one upset girlfriend :p

After the family mish mash, I got home and slapped a Leupold VX-2 3-9x40 stainless scope on it, along with burris rings and bases. Its one beautiful lookin unit!

Overall the fit and finish on this rifle is unreal!! The bell and carlson stock doesnt feel cheap, its very solid and textured to provide good grip in any conditions! The flutes in the barrel were clean and crisp, the pachmayr recoil pad is very soft, should be a dream to shoot! I compared it side by side to a tikka, browning, sako and kimber when I bought it and in my mind this one was the nicest! And $400 less then a kimber ;)

The MOA trigger is a little on the heavy side (4.5 lbs) but very crisp and 0 creep whatsoever, and according to Winchester it is user adjustable so I might end up turning it down to that 3lbs mark.

The action is super smooth, cycles very nice, and what sold me on it was the CRF. It didn't matter what I did today I couldn't get that gun to jam at all! Not to mention it threw snap caps half way across the room when the action was cycled with authority!

I will hopefully get to shoot it here this weekend, pending the wind stays down, and I will post results after I shoot it! Also pics will be coming soon!

The gun and scope weighs in at 8lbs 3 oz. Which I dont think is to bad at all.

You could say I'm more then a little pumped to finally have a FN Model 70 in the safe, and so far super impressed with it. If it shoots as good as it feels and looks, I will be buying another winchester model 70 in the near future!

Finally, on a side note, how do you guys break your barrels in? Or do you even believe in that whole procedure? I feel like I should maybe try it with this rifle, havent on any other new ones I have bought and they were all MOA rifles.

RANGE PICS UP!

Very nice rifle!
Any particular reason for the blued action / stainless barrel configuration on this model, looks?, weight? Just curious

Congrats. I measured how far my fn made fw 30-06 tosses the brass. It was 30 feet. For barrel break in shoot the damn thing and clean it when the groups open up.

I'm not to sure actually but I don't mind it, it's something different. Not all stainless and not all blued. Far as rings and bases go they didn't have any stainless ones like I had hoped but I almost like the blued a bit better!

Very nice looking. I'm a push feed Winnie Model 70 guy, but I still like the look of any Model 70, those FN made ones sure are tight! :D

My Model 70 Sniper rig:

As much as I've loved and competed with the .308 for over 20 years, I've switched to a .260 Rem for their selection of very efficient .260 or 6.5mm boooolits. Enjoy the M70 addiction! :)

Cheers

Bought my 243 Coyote in June. After 60 rounds it started to really preform spectacular.
Last reloads 87gr. vmax went into less than .200" 3, 3 shot groups at 100 yd.
Put 3, 80 gr factory's into.375" the only factory loads that it has shot.
I have been shooting water bottles on the end at 250 yards.
I love this gun and once deer hunting is done my Coyote will be used for it's name sake hunting.

Glad to hear its accurate!
Thats my plan as well, I already like this one more then my 223, not that the 223 is anything special but its damn accurate as well. But once deer season is over here, I have a quigley ford 4-16 LR scope for the coyotes :D They can run, but they wont be able to hide lol

RANGE REPORT:

Weather: -16 degrees Celsius
WNW Wind Gusting to 30km/hour

Ammo: Winchester Power Max Bonded 150gr @ 2715 FPS

1st 3 were bottom and 2nd 3 are the far left.

Last and tightest group, and finally where I was happy with my sighting for deer season!(black spot beside the last hole is a mark from my pellet gun when I tested this homemade easy-2-see target) As you can see, there are 2 shots in one hole then the 3rd shot. Very happy with this rifle!! Black electrical tape is also fixing my whoops when making these targets! The black paint didnt stick to to well in certain spots so I just taped over them :p
