I had a chance to handle one of these in 30-06 Yesterday. While the stock was a little on the "obese" side, what a great rifle. The fit and finish were top notch, the bolt butter smooth, and the stock plenty stiff. If I were right handed I might have bought the thing right there. A set of Leupold DD low mounts and a fixed 6X Leupold would make this a go anywhere do anything lifetime rifle. For the budget conscious shopper, this as a single big game rifle in the safe amortized over 25 years of hunting would be nothing short of a bargain.

I'd like to check one out in .300wsm, but haven't seen anything up here but .30-06's...I'd likely squeeze one into an EDGE...

I have a Winchester Model 70 in .375 H&H Mag and love the darn thing. Got it for Cape Buffalo.... Never got to use. 9/11 happened and I decided that it was not smart for a Middle Eastern looking male to travel to Africa with a big-ass rifle. Gosh I hate terrorism and terrorist of all creeds, colors, religions etc.

I picked up a Win M70 Extreme Weather SS in .30-06 from Clay at Prohpet River this past fall; mounted a Leupold VX3 4.5x14x40 with leupold mounts and rings and it was my primary deer rifle. Very satisfied with it....

what do you guys think about plopping a bushnell 4.5 X 30 X 50mm 6500 elite tactical scope on one of these and using it as your hunting and range rig (obviously not in competition, but just for fun)?

Has anyone used one of these rifles in "extreme weather"? On 2 occasions I've had actions freeze and both times i wondered if a Mod 70 EW would have faired better.

I have a Model 70 in 7mmRM and love the rifle. It's not the extreme weather version, but she has NEVER failed me yet in any situation.

I can't say enough good things about the rifles that come out of New Haven.

However, that said, I do believe that they recently went through a change in ownership and heard from others that some of the earlier offerings from that new company were subpar and required a visit to the 'smith. Clearly this isn't the case here.

I fondle one in 325WSM almost daily. If I didnt have a 8mm Mag and a 338F already it would be long gone

I feel it's probably THE best hunting rifle for $1000ish out there now.

My best guess was that in back to back days hunting, I picked-up some condensation when the metal changed temps. I switched to tri-lube after the second freeze up and haven't had problems.

I love my model 70 SS 300 wsm. I have had it since 2002. Wears a Richards Microfit and a 3200 scope. I use it mainly for Moose hunting.
Love the bolt ;) Awesome trigger as well :ar15: Once I adjusted it.

agreed......other companies are selling tupperware stocked rifles for more $$$$...Sako sells an $1800 rifle with a tupperware stock...that's BS....

The stock alone is worth about $325 from B&C......

From the owners Ive talked too the Tupperware stocks feel and work fine. If it shoots MOA no need to buy a B&C or a McMillan. Sako's have garantee'd 5 shot moa.
I think most guys buy expensive stocks like they do fancy rims on trucks, not neccessary but flashy.

Cheers!!

You couldn't be more wrong. I've personally seen the tupperware stock on a 75 snap at the wrist with a LIGHT fall on the butt of the rifle. This is aside from the flimsy junk they're made with. I spend to much time and money hunting to not consider a quality firearm "necessary".
