I have a hard time imagining a better rifle and scope combination for general NA hunting. The 7mm-08 is an excellent choice for 90% of North American hunting. I'd slightly prefer stainless but for that deal I could live with blued.

I did purchase the rifle, but their selection of Leupold scopes was very slim. I ended up with a Nikon Monarch 3 4-16x42 with FFP BDC reticle for just under $300. This Canadian Tire is located in Smithers B.C. and they still have a few smoking deals on some .300 Win Mags and a few other rifles and older scopes. In particular they have a .300 Win Mag in the Winchester Model 70 Featherweight for $780 when I was there. I hate to think what it would do to my shoulder at higher charges, but it's a steal either way if you want to hunt buffalo or elephants I guess.
