Hey sponsors, anyone stocking one in either 270 or 308? Might just have to take one off your hands!

epps just received one in 270 and one in 308 last week. the 308 sold right away, they still have the 270. I want one but the boss said not so close to x-mas........ and i agreed with her!!! i think i might have the flu or something.......

They have been out for a while, maybe introduced initially as a shot show special. I think the gundealer in NB had some as well.

Edit: They do, .300 Win Mag

The special edition Brownings in maple are fugly, imo. Haven't looked at the Winchester but probably much the same. Whatever floats your boat.

Is there any measurable weight difference between maple and walnut generally speaking?

Depends on the blank, but in general, maple is denser and heavier... and IMO, uglier as a rifle stock. Personal preference, but I'm not a fan of maple, beech or birch for rifle stocks... a nice, swirly grained hunk of walnut with 20 coats of hand-rubbed oil... mmmmmm... now that is a thing of beauty.

I am going to say that Maple can be very nice. I also like nicely grained Beech as well. But it's hard to beat Walnut in most comparisons. Of course, Maple is much harder and more resistant to dings.

I don't mind light color stocks, but Maple isn't high on my want list.
I'm still kicking myself for sleeping on and missing out on this nice mint 670a. If it was in any other chambering I wouldn't have thought about it and scooped it. Too many 30'06 in the stable currently.

Looks good to me. I was thinking that isn't maple harder than walnut? Possible the maple stock might be a little more resistant to bumps and nicks?

I have a maple Custom Shop built just before they closed shop and moved south. 7mm RM, open sights, and short slender forearm as per a traditional European plains rifle. Rosewood forend tip and grip cap, cannot rember butt plate. She is gorgeous...but, maple is not to everybody's liking.

That sounds sweet!
