Hey guys, I was wondering what a NIB winchester model 70 pre 64 would be worth?

I know a firearms collector that has several new in the box but im not sure how much someone should pay if they want to re-sell them. He only has larger calibers left i think like 30-06s stuff like that

This guy is older and has been selling some of his collection. I already bought a colt 1911 combat government NIB 1981 production series 70 for $700 (i know thats a steal) so if i can get some of these model 70s at a good price i would sell them for reasonable money too.

any help with value would be good thanks

Last year I saw what appeared to be an standard unfired 30-06 (late pre 64) with no box that sold for $1500. It was as new, not a mark on it.

There are pre 64's and there are pre war pre 64's (more desirable) and there are models and calibers that raise the price. I have seen rare Winchester boxes sell for $800.

thanks for the info guys, these rifles arnt pre war rifles but that kind of gives me a ball park. If i can get em for less than a grand i should buy 2 or 3 depending on the grade and caliber i guess.

this guy has mostly higher grade stuff but some plain jane too, he just sold a Parker Brothers 16 ga D-Grade SxS to a guy i know, its got the beaver tail forend and damascus barrels too i think, he paid 3600 for it. And he always brags about his Wesley Richards 28 ga he has but i know i cant afford to even look at that one.

If you get a chance, check out Dave Riffles Guns for Sale Inc website for an idea of prices on pre 64 70's., I have seen ( advertised as NIB ) African Winchesters( 458 ) listed for as much as 9 grand American. He also moves quite a few standard calibers, 06, 270 and such like which may help to give you an idea keep in mind they are American priced. As you will see, they aint cheap!!!!!

I think a post-war, standard-grade .30-06,.270 could fetch close to $1,500.00 in as-new condition here in Canada...maybe. Would have to be perfect though. Now if a Super-Grade or pre-war for sure. Also asking prices are way higher in the U.S. so don't pay much attention to them.
Personally I'd have no use for a NIB w/hang-tag rifle.I'd be scared to touch it let alone shoot or hunt with it. Just me.
Cheers
Geoff
