Can anybody tell me if this is a correct Model 71 sling? The guy I bought my 71 from said this is the original factory sling.I have seen similar slings in pictures of other deluxe 71s but some others are different. It came off a Model 71 standard with deluxe swivels and studs, which are accurate but not sure if the sling is original. There are no markings on it. Anybody have any insight or a picture of a for-sure correct, original 71 deluxe sling? Thanks to those who reply.

I think its the proper sling, looks very similar if not identical to the sling on my 71 Deluxe.
A Mod. 64 Deluxe I had for years also wore the same type of sling...

From photos I have on some of the hard copy info sheets I have, yours looks to be the real thing or at least, very close.

Closer than the poor copy I have on my 71 Deluxe.

Looks correct. Hard to tell originals sometimes. Not sure why his standard 71 has sling eyes and a sling on it though. I don't recall ever having seen a photo of a "for sure" original sling...hmm...have to think on that, maybe I have...Congrats on the nice 71 coming. Sure are find rifles and one of my favorites.

Welcome to the 71 club!

Looks like mine, looking forward to pictures. If your DeLuxe is too pretty to shoot you may need to get a standard model to shoot. Shooting Model 71s is one of the finer things in gunnuttery in this old guy's opinion.

The 71 standard will be up for sale when the deluxe arrives. The front sling eye, rear stud, and swivels are definitely Deluxe parts and the rifle is a standard. It is perplexing to me because if the sling attachments are aftermarket, why are the swivels and sling original? I'm sure it would take years and years of searching to find all three of these components separately.

This sling seems to be a copy of the US Model 1907 sling. It was and still is quite a popular pattern. Check out the web for the many ways to use it.

Sorry, should not have said not sure why it had them, as you could order the rear swivel base, forearm tip fitted with swivel base, sling hangers and sling, order all the parts and put them on your standard grade 71. They are all available in my 1951 Stoegers Catalog. Every part is for the Model 71 in either variant. Seen a few standard rifles that were fitted with them. So, it wouldn't take years to find it all, all original Winchester parts readily available. I'd likely have done the same thing, the 71 is not a light gun to carry.
