Hello,

A family friend recently reached out to me looking to sell their inherited firearm that they’ve never used. It’s a Winchester model 88, and when I do a serial number look up, it says it’s from 1955. Which I believe is the first year they were produced. There is not magazine for it, and those seem to be a bit pricey.

Any idea of the value of it? I want to make sure they get fair market value for it (even if it’s too much for me to make an offer!)

Thanks for any input

Don't know what there are selling for, but I've seen people asking $1200 for them.

So a thousand dollars aughtta be fair at todays prices.

Caliber would be a bigger help too. 308, 243, 284 and 358 in ascending values anywhere from $600-3000.

I would say around $600 without the mag. No collector value as someone added a recoil pad. A first year production 88 would be worth a little extra but only factory original. Magazines are spendy. Seen them from $150 to $350 asking price. They are a nice hunting rifle and the few I've handled were quite accurate.
