Winchester Model 88

I inherited a Winchester Model 88 and would like to know the approximate value of the rifle. 308 cal, stock has leaves in the checkering, some surface rust on the action from the gun cabinet it came from. Blueing on the barrel 80% It also looks like someone has refinished the stock as there are some minor runs in it!
Any Info would be wonderful!

Value of a Win 88...

Sounds like a Post '64 model with the "press checkered" stock. Others may differ, but our local gunshop has a couple of 88's that are pre '64's with the "cut checkered" stocks, with tip-off mounts, 4x scopes, and I would rate the blueing at 90% or better [being conservative]. The asking price for each of them is $425. Value of yours is probably not much more than the $300-$400 area.

But then there was one for sale on the EE here about 10 days ago... looked like a post '64 with stock similar to your description. Buddy was asking something like $695 for it...
