Winchester Model 88

The moose I shot with a 308 were quite dead. Even the one my buddy shot at 425 yards with a 88 with open sights. Far too long a shot.

Back several years ago, my grandfather was hunting with the same .308 that fired the above group. His hunting buddy was shooting an identical rifle. There were 6 huters in the group, and the one guy came upon a bachelor herd of bulls, and fired every cartridge in the rifle and killed 6 bulls with 6 shots. He filled everyone's tags in 30 seconds flat. Yup, I'd say that a .308 can kill a moose

The trigger mechanism of a model 88 Winchester drops with the lever when the action is cycled. So how can a person pinch a finger?

That's is a good question....apparently some people run into lamp posts in the middle of the day quite frequently, I have no other explanation either. Win mod 88 in 358Win is even better moose slayer and that is a fact, yes it has litle to mushy trigger pull but I can live with that b/c everything else in my rifle is perfect.

My pre 64 88 was my first centrefire rifle. I love that gun, accurate, dependable, and if you actually aim, there's nothing on this continent that a .308 won't kill.
