Winchester Model 94 Date of Manufacture

Just bought a pre-64 94 in 30.30 off EE. Looking to determine the date of manufacture. The serial number is 4681985. A couple sites said 1979, but the seller told me it was pre-64. Anybody know this information? Please include how you know this as well. Thank you.

You need to talk to the guy who sold it to you as a pre-64 Winchester Model 94.
 
Well, you guys better get this EE thing straightened out. The rifle was indeed, made in 1979 and should not have been on EE as a pre 64. Unless, as mentioned, it actually was post, or supposed to be post 64.
 
Same thing happened to me from a dealer on this forum. Advertised as pre 64, but ended up being 73 IIRC. Called them on it, was given the option to return it or keep it and they'd cut me a cheque for the difference. I decided to keep it. This was Marstar, and they made it right.

To the OP, if you think this was an honest mistake on the sellers part, and he is being reasonable, cut him some slack. If not, please use the trader rating appropriately.
