Anyone ever done it? Mine is a pre-'64 model. I want to clean it up and reblue some of the parts that can be seen outside the gun.

Kinda afraid to just start knocking out pins, although its probably that simple.

I have had them completely/totally apart apart on many occasions. But it has also been many years since I have done it. The one key thing I can remember is one of the screws that can be seen on the outside of the receiver must be removed "first" if you are taking out the the bolt, lever etc.

If you fail to take it out you get quite a few parts out of it but with them out you won't be able to get the screw out to free up the bolt and lever removal. You will have to reassemble the whole thing to get that screw out.

I can't remember which screw it is. And I don't have a 94 on hand to take a look. If you are at all mechanically inclined and have disassembled guns before you will be fine. Make notes and take pictures to help your memory.

Sorry I can't be more helpful as I never made notes, and digital cameras were not thought of when I was doing it.

There kind of like a jig saw puzzle. Make sure you can lay everthing out and follow the intructions of a book or video. They have to be taken apart in a very strict order and back together in the same fashion. I have done a couple and they seem hard at first but as long as you follow the instructions they are easy.

BTW you won't beleive the junk that comes out of them. I have my grandfathers old one. Made in the 40's. It was never taken apart or cleaned.

Been a while, I remember not keeping careful track of the order and direction of disassembly, and having to backtrack because the part I was trying to assemble from the top had to go in from the bottom or vice-versa.

I did an AE model but the video was for a pre 64. The trigger spring is totally different and when it let loose it was a royal pain to get back in right.
