Hi guys,
I recently came across a possible purchase of a winchester 94 - PCMR. I did not know these existed until I did some further research. Being a collector of surplus guns and also wanting a lever action made this very desirable for me. I guess only 2-3 thousand of these were brought into Canada in 1942 to give to the PCMR to help defend our coast against a possible Japanese attack. There is a nice write up of them here - http://candrsenal.com/rifle-winchester-94/ . My only problem is that I have no idea what it would be worth as I've never seen one sell here before. Most of the bluing is gone and the wood is a little beat up. But it is in good mechanical order. Maybe I'll try and get some photos up in a bit. Any input?

-Cheers

Condition of any rifle dictates the price for sure but being a model 94 and a PCMR to boot is the deal maker.I think the going rate is $500 to $650 for the rifle you describe. There is also a good book on the PCMR by David Clark ,lots of information there.Good luck and oh yeah ..buy the rifle.

The toughest thing with a PCMR Winchester is finding one in nice shape, that still has the upper sling band.
The Holy Grail is finding one with that and the paper that went with buying it from the gov't.

They're apparently reasonably common on the west coast, much less so elsewhere.

Yeah, not uncommon in BC at one time.

I saw a few in use as shooters when I was growing up.

About 20 years ago there were lots to choose from in various conditions. Not so much anymore. They have
become collectable along with the accessories

PCMR in Beautiful British Columbia

You gotta love these guys and their accessories :dancingbanana:

Here are a few bad pictures that I took of it while I was there. I might return today with a wallet :p.

Yeah, the one I'm looking at still has the upper sling band. But it's definitely seen some use! I'll have to inquire about the paperwork, that would be really cool.

So how much is that particular rifle going for?

With the upper band and swivels intact and not looking too bad...would think it would be worth north of the $650 or so mentioned. Depending on where it could be over $1K.

Someone apperantly walked in 2 hours after I saw it and bought it :,(. Wish I had acted faster but I didn't know what I was really holding without a bit of research first. Pretty upset. I'll have my eyes always on the lookout for one now though :p
