I just managed to score one of these, nib, in 44 mag, and havn't been able to find out much about them yet, other than they seem to be as scarce as hens teeth.

Beautifull little gun, 18 inch barrel, pistol grip, half mag, cross bolt saftey, and a very un Winchester looking rear sight.

Can anybody out there shed some light on these?

If you ever decide to sell it, I'll meet you at Denis's... I've been looking for a Win .44 for some time...

Nice trio. Good score.

A few pics and description I got 4u from gunauction site - shows same sight I think.

Beautiful line up guns you have there. I have always wanted a timber carbine in .444, but a 450 would be fine. Kicking my butt I never picked one up when there were lots around. Scarce as hens teeth now as you know. My recollection is that 44 mag is in and around the same vintage as the timber carbine period. That series had short barrels and half mags. I am not a Winchester lever expert so I could be wrong in my reasoning.

Deerfield's like the above Winchester's/ Timber Carbines can be found, unfortunately they want two arms and a leg for them. The Rugers come up on the EE a lot more often than the Winchesters, but most fella's want to make most of there retirement savings off the sale of one.
