Went looking online for bulk 00 Buck or similar and found these being sold in Canada, which for some reason surprised me slightly, although undoubted good for bear, etc. Well, almost undoubtedly- I got to fire a few of these when they first came out but don't remember much about the experience, accuracy wise, I suppose I was put off by the apparent gimickyness. I assume many here have tried them, how do they rate for accuracy of the slug, spread of the shot, supposed effectiveness and things like that?

Specifically, these are the 12 G shells loaded with one slug and 3 buckshot:

Well, to answer my own question it's clear this stuff hasn't set the world on fire, but last night I found one video online where a guy does a fairly well informed technical analysis of the rounds where he demonstrates that the muzzle velocity of the slug is reduced by some hundreds of FPS but its basic accuracy is not. He further shows that the OO buck will spread past an IPSC target at outdoor ranges. But this is amateur stuff and does not speak to the effectiveness for the intended purpose, which I would take to be shooting at close indoor ranges. Anyway, since Cabelas lists the stuff I'll probably get some to play around with. Mind you, at $2.50 per shell the play value is limited.

I load it 1-2 shots in front of slugs for woods carry. It does well enough at short ranges for milk jugs, or scaring wolves and cats. I've never needed to fire at the animal yet, either with these rounds or the slugs behind. So I can't comment on it's lethality.

Knock on wood.
