This boar was shot at a quartering angle as I stepped off to the side to shoot him. He came out of the willows from a distance of 20ft. when I squeezed off the shot. The boar was running flat out at me. He continued on as if he hadn't even been hit; blowing past me at a mere 2 ft. away.

75 yards later I heard him pile up into more willows. It was another exciting hunt as this was the second one in a 5 minute time span.

I was using a Browning X-Bolt in 30-06 , 180gr. power max shells which feature a controlled expansion hollow point. This boar had aprox. 1/2" of hard gristle(protective cartilage) under the skin which helps protect the ribs. The bullet was found under skin on left rear quarter. The right lung and liver were shredded.

Very good results with this round.

nice. I'm surprised it dint go all the way through him. iv shot huge moose with a 308, similar to 30-06 and the round just zipped through him. i was using 170 gr fusion. nice hog btw.

Nice. The only thing ive shot with a Power Max was a kill shot (head) on a doe at about 8 ft.

I shot a another doe with a Fusion (same bullet idea, different manufacture) and was pleased with the results on the animal. Was unable to recover the bullet though.

PowerMax shoot AMAZING from my gun so they are my shell of choice for deer at the moment.

Yes it was a feral boar, down along the Leather river. Some are good to eat, some... the coyotes won't touch.

I haven't had any of these bullets break apart that I have recovered. The other boar was shot running straight away and the bullet destroyed 3" of its spine.
