Ok so the slide arm bridge retaining screw, the screw that attaches to the bottom of the bolt carrier and holds onto the slide arm bridge. Is it necessary? If that screw is missing will the shotgun function safely without it?

go to gunpartscorp.com/Manufacturers/Winchester-33573/Shotguns-42603/1200-41796/PartsList-33810.htm find part number and call your local gun smith and see if they have the part.

That holds a lot of the bolt together when taking it out of the shotgun.
It may function ok, for a time, if the head is sheared off, but it also may allow the bolt to come apart while in use.

Some models didn't come with the screw. My Ranger 120 doesn't have a hole for a screw.

The new SXP doesn't have one if I recall. However the bridge is attached to the pump arms, all one piece. Still not screwed, spring tension from firing pin holds it in place.

Broken screws are easy to remove.
