Winchester Ranger 30 30 ?

Hey I was looking to see if anyone knew any info on these...
I bought a winchester ranger 30 30 ser. 54###XX and i was trying to find info on it and there isn't much out there.
It looks just like a mod 94 so why call it a ranger ??
what year would it have been made ?

The Ranger was a cost saver for both Winchester and the consumer, they used maple
instead of walnut and the degree of metal finishing was less, but still had a very dark
blue finish. I remember 20 years ago you could get a Ranger M94 at Crappy Tire for
$ 249.00..............
