I could only imagine what some of these people would pay for it if it had "tactical" in the name and came with a free Picatinny rail.

9mm hollow points of any kind seem to be impossible to buy for cheap. I don't understand why. Three years ago, I was buying winchester whitebox 9mm hollow points for around $14 at wholesale sports. They still sell Winchester white box but only in fmj. I am also looking for the Walmart win white box 223 but all the walmarts that I go to don't even sell it anymore.
Still $45.00/50 rounds?

I have pretty much all the hp I can use, but I don't find it any more accurate than the 147gr Super Unleaded. I can get groups of around 1" to 1.5" from my 5946 and from the 226 with both the SXT/Black Talon and the Super Unleaded. Haven't tried with my Glocks but I expect it will be close to that.
I think the appeal is that it's used by law enforcement and therefore hard to get, and it is expensive.
Anything that it not common and expensive makes me automatically want it.
I wonder how many newbs have PM'd Dmented to ask how to get free ammo.

I have 3/4 of a box of the black "rangers" they replaces the "black talons" with before they got rid of the black coating.
The box says LEO ONLY... so you need to scan a copy of your badge before I'll sell it to you. Or at least delete a couple of my latest parking tickets from the system.

Last summer I bought a little over 1K rounds (IIRC) of 9mm JHP from another CGN'er.
It came up to under $15 per 50rds.

Original Cop Killer teflon coated armour piercing Black Talons, Same exact without lubalox coating SXT's, Latest generation of massive overkill Ranger-T Talons, Law enforcement truncated cone FMJ.
I also have 147 grain golden sabres and 147grain hydrashoks.
What is this about 99$ a box?
I expect a flood of mail asking to sell for less than market value any moment now.
Answer is no.
At least not until me and DMented work out a market deal where we both sell for no less than a brown bill, a night with your wife/gf, 26pounder of jamiesons.

Golden Saber are good, I have a little of that kicking around too.
But you must have had the hydroshok for a while. I haven't seen any of that stuff in years.
