Winchester Safari Express .375H&H

The Alaskan is on the bottom.

Are you a loader Demonical? I just loaded up some 260gr NAB over 71 grains of Reloader 15 to start. Still on the fence post as to whether I am going to crimp or not. Guess I'll just have to measure the last round in the mag after firing a few off...

Sharpshooter love the "ALASKAN", WHAT VINTAGE IS IT? I like the lines of the stock on her!

Seems strange that the SAKO guys are not piping up on how there light barrel 375's handle? An awnser would be much appreciated!
cheers Dale Z!

How many grains RL-15, and what kind of muzzle velocity? (I love Woodleighs).

73 grains for chronographed 2670 fps. Thats over 100 more than the same bullet and my 760/H414 load. Just for fun; heres some of my A-frame collection pulled out of buffalo. Nothing else seems to stop them. The little guys are .375s and the big ones are .458s out of my M70 thats otherwise just like yours.

Woodleighs are a great bullet too, I just put in my order with an Ozzie custom loader for 400 rounds of '06/180 culling ammo.

These type of threads are killing me... I'm trying to downsize my rifle collection, yet keep on getting drawn back to dreaming of a new rifle.

The Safari Express packs a heck of a lot of value into a great rifle platform, and I'm sorely tempted to order one in 416 Rem. Has anyone handled both the 375 and 416 Safari Express versions? I believe they both have the same barrel contour, like the Ruger RSMs, so I'd be curious to know if there is any notable difference in how each points/carries.

It seem to be to camps here, those who love and use the WIN 375/458/416 express rifles, and the other who own and shoot both Win Express and there lovely BRNO/CZ 602/550 express rifles! Nice to see that both these guns are thriving here in Canada still!! Most think I am nutz to hunt with these large calibres for Moose, but my good friend Dave been hunting with his Sako FN actioned 375 H&H for decades with one shot kills with old Winchester 270 RN factory ammo. He just bought a 505 Gibbs CZ/550, it will be neat to see what happens to a moose when hit with a 600 grian bullet!!
cheers Dale Z!
PS John just missed out on a S&L 358NM!!! I love the Husky 35 cal you have, luck duck!

I suspect I may have just got in the door ahead of you. I've been looking for one for quite a while, one came up and I jumped on it. I've just received notification it'll be packaged up and sent tomorrow.

I finally got my. 375 sighted in today. I had serious issues getting it on paper. Well I finally figured out I got a DUD Leupold scope. I had a brand new VX3 1.75-6X on it, and you could not raise the p.o.i. I swapped the dud for a 1.5-6X VX3, that I had surplus, and got the job done.
I'm tagging along on my buddies moose hunt. Gonna take my old faithful M700. 338WM, the new M70 Supergrade. 338 and the Safari Express. Hopefully I can shut the lights out on a 7' blackie and wolf or 10.

What?? You need to pay more attention when I am talking to you. Press the scope up against a mirror, turn the knobs and watch the reflection of the cross hairs move, this verifies they are actually moving correctly. If you want to roughly center the adjustment bring the reflection of the crosshairs and the real crosshairs together.

Sounds like VooDoo... like 'smoke and mirrors'!! :runaway:...

Anyway, that elevator (or whatever you call the thing that moves the crosshairs up) wouldn't work. I cranked that sum##### til it wouldn't move, and it didn't raise the bullet impact point at all. F'n dud. I'd gotten to the point, I didn't think Leupy ever made an NFG scope...

I love my 375. A little bit of a highjack here but as everybody was saying how much they like their model 70's, I love my two. I got an Alaskan in .375 and a SG in 30-06.

Looking for a nice used VXII 1-4x or a VXIII 1.5-5x for the Alaskan to take her hunting this fall...

I put a 1.8-5.5x38 Zeiss Conquest on my 375. Love the scope. Consistent 4" eye relief. If you could find one of those, might be a winner.
