Winchester semi auto

A fellow has a Winchester semi auto .22. I haven't seen it yet, but he says he bought it in 1950.
Does anybody know what models of Winchester semi autos would have been new on the market in 1950?

Not sure the 77 model was avilable in 1950. They did make a model 50 that was a single shot semi auto, or I may have the model wrong. The may have still been making 74's in LR in 1950. FS

The Winchester model 77 pricing above is accurate UNLESS it has the tube magazine. Only 10% of the guns produced from 1955 - 1963 were tube mags so their value is considerably higher then the same model with clip.

The pricing above is not for the 77 the 77 was not made till 1955 he said the gun was bought new in 1950 which possibly makes it a modell 74 .

According to my research, the Model 63 was the only semi by Winchester made in 1950.
However, I have now seen it and it is a Model 74. He still says he bought it new in 1950, but the 74 had been out of production since 1945. Must have been sitting on the shelves for a few years.
Anyway, It's a complete, but well used 74. I would guess at a price of around 160 to 200.

That single-shot semi-auto was the model 55 rimfire. I had one for some time.
Neat concept, but virtually impossible to mount a scope on because of the top loading ramp.

H4831, sounds like you have a model 74 Winchester there.

Just got the dates mixed up, but in any case they were not being made in 1950, as they only started production in 1955.

"Winchester manufactured the Model 77 between 1955 and 1963. Approximately 217000 were made. Given the 8 year span of production and your serial ..."

Found this while looking.
