Winchester Shot Show Featherweight 7x57

I had a 7x57 made up on a 270 actioned featherweight in the early 1990's (push feed) It has a featherweight contour barrel 24" long and the throat is cut long like the military throat--allows 140 and 154-160 Grain bullets to be seated quite long to maximize powder space. With 140 grain bullets it will consistantly chrono speeds in the 2975 range. A 26" might get you to 3000 or better if the thraot allows long seating.

YMMV, 44Bore.

I checked their site and it does in fact say 26" barrel in the specs on this rifle for the Shot Show special and lists it as a new offering in their regular featherweight site, again with 26" tube......................HHHMMMMMM.

While at Cabela's the other day I noticed one of the new Cabela's limited-edition Featherwieght's in 7m/m Mauser. Had "22 barrel, red pad and some engraving on floor-plate. Love at first sight, but at $1,850.00 think I'll pass for now.

A lot of discussion on this thread about 26" barrel, the website has since changed the error on that specification to the correct 22" barrel. If I didn't already have 4 other 7x57's i'd want one.

Not sure where u got the 26" bbl specsThe one I handled at the shot show had a 22 "" bbl and the one that was shipped to me is a 22 " bbl 26" bbl"makes no sense in a featherweight and certainly no sense in a 7x57

That's because the real firearm is a 22" barrel. I've verified this with Winchester, the 26" was a misprint.
I wonder how this will affect the ballistics of the 7x57...?

I picked one up from my local shop. Indeed a 22" barrel as has been mentioned. Puts 3 140gr Nosler Balistic Tips into nice neat 3/4" groups most of the time. I'll keep it!

Very nice rifle Longbranch!! If you'd like a rifle in that caliber and can't find a Winchester consider a Steyr Modelo 1912 (Chilean Mauser) in 7x57mm. Those can be had for $450 OTD (probably add 30$ for shipping). Those are built on a Mauser 98 action. TradeEx had them for a while and there is one at Accuracy Plus in Peterborough. Both great vendors.

I had one of the 7X57 Featherweights from back in ealy 80's and regretted selling it. Glad the new FN/Winchester finally added the 7X57 back into their Featherweight line. While at Cabela's in Olympia,WA couple weeks back I saw one of their Cabaela's Anniversary Featherweight/Super-Grades in 7X57. Loved it but not the $1,850 price. Glad to have one of these.
