Some really good reviews on this 12 guage. Anyone here own one? I think i'm sold on buying one this wknd. For $350 I'm thinking it's a must have!

I bought the camp edition kit (2 barrels) for $450 at Cabelas a while ago. Aside from the lack of accessories, it is a very nice shotgun for the price.

I do not have any experience with the speed pump but I do have an SXP which is of the same general design. I have the waterfowl model which has the 3.5 chamber and a camo finish. With the exception of a buddies wing master I have not used a shotgun this smooth. Mind you the shotgun is broken in now and much smoother than it was when new.
The quality of the materials in the best I’ve seen on any firearm at this price. No mold lines on the stock, good application of the camo (there are some areas on the bead where it is a little uneven in thickness), good fit and finish on the parts that are readily visible, and a dream to take down. Some people have problems with low brass shells but I have yet to experience that. The pump is very smooth and will rack itself using turkey or goose loads. It patterns pretty well considering I’m using the stock invector plus tubes.
People complain about the length of pull but I’m 6’5” and haven’t found any issues with it. People also rave about the recoil pad but shooting goose/turkey loads, and slugs still stings. Nothing like a Beretta albeit either is the price.
The Camo dip is starting to chip a bit at the ejection port but I’ve got maybe 200 through it now so I’m guessing that is to be expected. When compared to a buddies brand new Mossberg 500 the SXP is a more solid gun, doesn’t rattle, has a better fit and finish, and chrome lined bore.
Most models are also drilled and tapped for a scope mouth (not mine unfortunately). The old speed pump/1300 bases work or you can order one from Winchester. I wish it came with a cantilever barrel but a standard rifled slug barrel is available.
All and all I would say it is a much nicer gun that the 870 express, and Mossberg 500’s I’ve handled and shot. Can’t compare it to much else though.

Thanks for the helpful tips guys!
Thinking of going with 18" barrel, I haven't shot anything but a 20 guage for alot of years.

I have a 1300 speed pump and just love it. It's smooth, reliable and shoots anything. My 870 has jammed on really cheap slugs but not my 1300, it'll eat anything. I had one drilled and tapped for a red dot for hunting, and also use it for trap, pest control and anything else I can think of. I wouldn't think twice of picking up another Winchester speed pump.

Went to wholesale and bought the defender. Not a bad looking setup for $350.
Hoping to try it out this wknd!
