Winchester SR primers for an AR

Are there any issues using Winchester SR primers when reloading for an AR..I have heard that slam fires can result because the primers are too soft..

Those primers are not what most people consider typically soft. I use Winchester and CCI small rifle primers almost exclusively in .223 and have never had a slam fire after tens of thousands of rounds. In fact, I would take the Winchester over many others as they are hot and spark up that surplus ball powder well.

I use winchester because they are cheap but have found better results with CCI products and Federal Gold Medal so I use them for match loads.

I've gone through a few thousand with no problems. I will be running a lot of them now because I bought 10000. I have no reservations about using them.

No problem here.
I couldn't find any of Rem 7 1/2 primers as recommended for AR's reloading ammo, so WSR primers are my only choice. So far so good.

Slamfires are caused by improperly loaded ammo. Not the rifle or the primer. Usually primers seated too high. Seat the primer properly and you'll have no problems.
CCI "milspec" primers are a brilliant marketing plan for magnum primers. You don't need them either.

Any issues with federal primers? I have a bunch to use up.
