Haven't reloaded in years. Used Winchester Super Target (WST) powder for .40S&W and 9mm. Sold the .40.

I'm returning to reloading 9mm and am having difficulty sourcing the powder.

1. Is there anything new and improved I don't yet know about?

2. Do you know where I can buy WST?

Thank you

You can use dozens of powders to load 9mm, why WST if you haven't got a ton on hand already? There are definitely better powders out there depending on what you are up to specifically.

As for a source, you can find it the same place as most other powders, under "out of stock". Seriously though, keep checking Higginsons and you may get lucky.

Because my powder measures are set for it, I know how it works, and I like it's relatively clean burning properties.

Better powders -- what do you suggest?

I said depending on what you are up to. If you like it and are already set up for it there is no need to change that. If you are diligent you will find some, unfortunately I don't have a particular source on hand.

Picked up my first and only jug of WST at BassPro a few years back(think it was 2016?) and I found it was pretty much impossible to find in Canada after that for whatever reason. Some spots had it listed, but when I ordered I was told that there was no stock. If I knew where to get more I'd first buy a bunch, THEN let you know ;)
Definitely would be my pick if I had a choice of one powder for 9,40, and 45 range loads. It's just been so easy to work with. I've read in several threads that it is a temperature sensitive powder, but I've never confirmed that and it never really mattered to me anyway since I only ever shoot indoors. But, certainly a consideration if you're doing anything other than target shooting.

Other excellent powders in the burn rate range: TightGroup(bit faster) HP-38, W231, AccNo2 & VVN320(bit slower) work very well in all three of these calibers(with the Hodgdon powders metering marginally better I find), but none of them burned as clean from my min to max tested loads as WST did. All of these are popular powders and seem to still be available lately if you know where to look.
For 9mm in particular (but significantly slower in burn rate) are CFE Pistol(this and the AccNo2 being available at Canadian Tire as recently as last week!) and AccNo5. Both of these meter better than most powders out there(if that's a priority), and I've worked up some favorite range loads with both of them.

I got 10 or 11lb of it from Wholesale Sports when they shut down. I like it for my bunny phart steel loads in .38/.357.and .44mag. I previously got it from Rayn'er Shine Gunworks but pretty sure they have nothing on hand now.

Auggie D.
