Winchester Super X-1 trap…

Between my son and myself we own about a dozen Winchester SuperX-1 shotguns and Ive seen dozens more. Never have I run across one stamped like that !! You’ve got something unique. The marks on the receiver indicates someone used a shell catcher at some point in the past. These SuperX-1 were built like a tank and were know to throw very tight patterns and also throw their empties 12 feet to the right, therefore the other reason for the shell catcher as a courtesy to the shooter standing next to you.

I've seen more than a few Sx-1's but never one like that, very cool looking gun though.
If done from the factory (which I think it may be) then it must have been some special run but I can't imagine what for. I expect that someone here will know about it though.

The few engraved Super-X I've seen over the years, seemed to follow the various M12 engraving patterns.

- But doing a search for engraved Super-x, a few with your pattern do show up (without the maple leaf / bird)

I am with spank on this one. Had a skeet gun that i sold years past with that stamped scroll. It just got resold for $ 850 in like new condition.
It's real easy to see it's not original. The cuts show white metal. If it were factory they would be blued just like the roll stamped scroll because the engravings would have been done at the factory before the receiver was blued and secondly those are nowhere near any kind of Winchester engraving pattern.

Thanks for the comments.
I had never seen these markings on anything and they don’t look like factory added as the position of them doesn’t really look right.
It’s for sale at Reliable Gun in Langley. Just wondered if anyone knew if it was done by a store or person someone here would have known about.
Btw, it’s a trap gun with Monte Carlo and looks great!

Somebody has added the maple leaf and the pigeon. That is not factory nor Winchester styled engraving. The roll stamped scroll is factory.
I just took another look at the engraving on the Super X-1, realized and was about to comment that it was ‘added’. No need, Spank and the gang spotted the fake already. Note to self…Must get a new pair of reading glasses.
…at one time people were adding an engraved bird on the bottom of Win model 12 shotguns. Trying to get a premium dollar by imitating the more expensive ‘Pigeon Grade’ Model 12.
