Anyone a fan of this great Shotgun? Just picked up my second. There almost as much fun as sxs's. Looking for a spare parts source in Canada. If anyone has any pic's or thoughts they would like to share on the SX-1 feel free.

Great guns. Had this one quite a while and wouldn't part with it.
Most have nice wood.

Suposed to be the best semi ever made. I've got one and wouldn't mind picking up another for the right price.

Here is what is supposed to be the best supplier of parts ... Wright's ... but he probably won't ship to Canada ...

I have dealt with Wright's before they are Canada friendly. I ordered some Chokes from them and they sent them through customs as a "gift". Excellent Chokes by the way.

Made its entrance on the shotgun seen in about 73-74 was designed to feel and handle like its cousin the model 12 does that very well best gas system ever designed no action bars just a rod and piston to travel a 1''-1 1/4'' . Maintenance check make sure the buffer at the back of the receiver is in place also keep a eye on the spring on the gas piston rod they have a tendency to collapse . I bought my first one a Simpson sears 1973 on sale $119 still shoot it . Best Autoloader ever made surpassing even the over tecked Auto's of the day you know the ones $2000-$3000 versions. On that note luckily the SX 3 is still the same basic design with new millenium cosmetic updates. I think they are the best $ value in a Auto today.

Interesting. I thought SX3 was just more recent -- shows what I know. :(
Any other differences?

You are correct the SX-3 was more recent. The SX-1 was made from 1974 to 1981 app. 80,000 were built. They never met public appeal as they were priced almost $250 more than the Rem. 1100.

Thank's Win/64 and struff55.

I remember seeing about five SX3s in 20 and 12 guage for sale on the Elwood Epps website, but I don't recall seeing any SX1s. The new (unused) SX3's were going for about $1100 to $1500 or so. I think there was a used SX2 for about $750

There lack of sales in the early yrs were do to the fact that they were only 2 3/4'' now I would gladly trade any 3 1/2'' for a a 2 3/4'' 1 3/8oz of buffered lead no2 to use in the goose blind .

This thread is not about SX-2's or SX-3's It is about the SX-1. If I wanted an SX-2 or SX-3. I would buy a Beretta.

I also have an SX1. It is the plain field model but still has nice wood. It is one of the later ones with a serial # 73###. I got a really good deal on it because it had been cut down to about 23". I am always on the hunt for a 26" or 28" barrel. I have to agree that the SX2 & SX3 are both good shotguns but they'll never be an SX1.
