I was wondering how the magazine tube for the SX2 was attached to the reciever (press fit, pinned, threaded), and if it could be easily swapped out by a gunsmith for a new one?

actually i've never seen too many win.sx2's but it may also be silver soldered in. if that is the case then it would have to be reheated to be removed and a new one soldered in. why do you have to replace the existing mag?

Long story...

Short story... I want the Winchester SX2 Practical, but not for the capacity of the magazine (8 - which makes it unacceptable in Canada), but for the 22" iron sighted, cantilevered, smoot bore, and screw in chokable, barrel.

It turned out that the magazine is not just extended, but is integral, so a new magazine would be needed.

I have since (posting) asked for a quote for the Winchester SX2 Field and an extra barrel, the barrel from the Practical. It will likely cost a little more than the asking price of the Practical itself, but I won't have problems at the border, or with having warranty.

Here is the Field

Here is the Practical (imagine the barrel of this on the above)

And this is what I had hoped for earlier... prior to finding out about the mag.
