What should a person expect to pay for one of these in field gun configuration? Vent rib 28 inch mod barrel. Early production with the screwed rib.
I would put condition at 9 out of 10. I do know about the bolt buffer and recoil spring. I know it is impossible for someone to give an exact value without actually seeing one in person and my 9 out of 10 is not necessarily someone else's but just looking for a generalization.

I sold those here field models with stage one triggers for 550 plus shipping but that was before covid and the foolish prices. Buffer would be toast but no big deal

I was going to say $650-$700 (If it's a 9/10)... than again, I'm kind of partial to them. Something to do with blue machined steel and walnut. To me, they swing nice. For years my default grouse-gun was a Sx1 (26'' IC)

- Spring? Unless it's been shot a whole lot, I wouldn't worry about the spring.
- Buffer? Wright’s used to be the go to guy... I'd guess Midwest Gun Work...
- O-ring, in my note I have Viton size #21

They sell for 300 alone just the barrel
I had twelve I think when I joined here and still have five which will die with me. Others all sold on the EE but again not with today's pricing

The field ones I sold yes I redid the wood but they were 8/9 guns

A wile back there was a 2 bbl set for sale 550$ ish
They sell for 350 - 550 depending on condition
There is a vent rib model with a modified choke on EE now 1800 views asking $600 so I guess they will sell for less than that also a nice one on a dealers shelf $450

Seems like Epps has one of these fly-way last I looked.
- I few years back I considered getting a SX1 "skeet", as it had some pretty nice wood... but it would pretty filled the same nice as the "field" (and there are no skeet-club anywhere near by.

9/10 used to bring up to $750 a few years ago...lately it seems they sit forever at much less than that as noted above. Glad I sold mine when I did. My only regret is the factory Trap Model I had with an IM choked barrel that had two boxes of ammo through it and the nicest wood I ever saw on an SX1...in my opinion they are the best gas auto ever made.

I can give that Mississippi Flyway a good loving home if you want to will it to an old school trap and skeet shooter....

I wouldn't be selling mine for those prices discussed here. Mine is in excellent original condition; trap gun 3 barrel vented rib set, trap, modified and improved cylinder. Replaced the bolt buffer when I first got it. . The target models sell for quite a bit more than the field guns do. Where would you go if wanted an excellent condition Super X-1 target shotgun huh? They don't make them anymore. . There was a couple on EE a month or so ago for $950 and they're no longer there.

Mine is for sale for $600 on the ee.

I would never, ever sell it were it not for changing times in my personal life, kids/nephews growing up and soon in need of their own shotguns, etc. I love this shotgun. It is, however, not an appropriate gun for dragging around a sal####er marsh or the rocks of the Bay of Fundy floor. I have a Baikal for that.

Those three are not mine but Mike Petruzzello in the US who I was told sold some of them to canada but not sure.
Glad the barrel found a proper home

They were a lot more than that. This is 1980 in US dollars
Superx1 1980 MSRP: Trap = $521, Trap w/MC stock = $533, Skeet = $521.
My first ones were 74 when they came out and $350 for field and $450 for skeet US dollars

Probably because the parts were machined rather than stamped. Like most parts today are.

Winchester was losing their shirt making them...so they quit making them

I agree. Also if they could have lost some weight on the field models that would have helped sales especially with a 3" chamber. The biggest problem I suspect was they were hampered by their selling price because the Remington 1100 already had a loyal following for less money. The SX-1 was leaps ahead in quality but folks were unwilling to belly up for the extra price required to keep the Super X-1 on the table. As it was Winchester was losing a lot of money with the price the public was willing to pay so unfortunately the SX-1 project came to an end. Some folks claim they lost so much money it was a major factor on Olin selling the manufacturing rights to the employees under U.S. Repeating Arms Company in 1980.

If you are talking about that one on gun post for 600 bucks it looks like a clean gun and worth that IMHO the other for 700 has been there a few weeks and no movement

I have what I think is a skeet model based on the scrolled receiver and straight stock. Sadly it has little value other than as a parts gun as someone took a hacksaw to it and chopped the barrel to around 20” or so. I’ve toyed with the thought of having the muzzle cleaned up and see if I can get it tapped for thin wall chokes but other wise it just sits there. Need to grab a buffer for it and see how it shoots at least.
