Hey guys how are we all?

Just looking for some feedback in relation to the Elite XP3s, i loaned my 300WSM rifle to a friend, who returned it with a box of 150gr XP3s.... Quite a ###y looking case an deadly looking projectile.!

Reading the box it seems to be loaded HOT, as velocity is of 3300fps, with a ballistic table of somethin along the lines of +1.1 @ 100, 0 @ 200, -5@300 an -14 @ 400.

Looking for any kind of info, or feedback from people who have used this ammo for anything....

Thanks guys

WL

I acquired some in .270. To be honest they could be CXP 2's or 3's As I didn't have the box and they make both for .270.

I agree, they are a striking looking round. They grouped about the same as regular Winchesters but they seem to be lucky for me as they have taken 2 bears and an 11 point buck in the last 2 years.
No problems of any sort but no recovered bullets so I can't comment on expansion.

I had 2.5 boxes of XP3 in 270 Winchester I picked up in a lot from the EE. 1.5 boxes of 150gr and 1 box of 130gr. I have a box of 150gr left, none of it shoots for sh!t in my savage bolt gun. Considering the sticker price of $55/20 rounds, its pretty expensive once fired brass. It was honestly the worst factory ammo I have ever used, so bad that I will never buy another box of Winchester factory ammo again. I have already been avoiding the 17HMR from Winchester for years due to inconsistent ignition and cases splitting, but this premium XP3 ammo grouped 5-6" at 100m off a bench! But yes, it sure does look ###y. :)

Yes, chuck hawks noted this ammo wasnt as accurate as Super X or Core lokts!
i had issues with Partition Golds accuracy was shockers.

Picked up a couple of boxes of 180gr Win xp3 for my Sako .300 wsm and can say that the accuracy is fairly mediocre in my rifle.. ~1.5" groups on average. Unfortunately cannot comment on performance in the field, since the moose were not cooperating last year.

My rifle normally does better than that.. 180gr tsx Federal Premium used to be fantastic (MOA).. until I started running into problems with their ammo being out of spec (I had a bunch of Federal loads that wouldn't chamber at all or had a very tight bolt close).

The xp3 would be acceptable for the kind of hunting that I expect to find myself in.. 2-300 yards max. The WORST load I have ever fired were Barnes Vortex 150ttsx - I am talking 4" groups.. huge disappointment.

Still looking for a honey of a factory load.. if not, I have some barnes ttsx bullets, some RL 17 and some RL19 that I will have to start thinking of as something other than decorations on the shelf.

Cheers

Thanks for the feedback Highbeta, 1.5 is fairly acceptable for a hunting rifle IMO, Did you find POI was similar with other 180gr Loadings?

cheers
