Just got a deal on 3 boxes of winchester supreme powerpoint plus 150gr moly coated ammo for 270 win .rated for cpx3. Is this too much bullet for deer?just worried about expansion or should I say lack of .
 
They're the good old Power Point that Winchester had been using for years. There a regular cup and core bullet that they've added the black moly coating to make them look fancy. They should expand properly on deer, I wouldn't hesitate to use them
 
I never seen the Winchester Supreme ammo with the powerpoints. Either is a Ballistic Tip, Failsafe, Accubonds (these 3 are the black Lublox coating) or the Partition Golds which have a grey moly coating. Anyhow the PP 150gr will be good. I would be a bit concerned if they were the Failsafes-great bullet on larger big game, but sometimes didnt expand on smaller game. I use to shoot Winchester Sumpreme Failsafes for years in my 300WM. I never lost a deer with them, but recovered a bullet and it didnt expand like ones recovered from moose and elk. Winchester Supreme Accubonds would be a great bullet for your 270 for any big game animal.
 
Good job at proving me wrong...lol I never seen them before and had also checks Winchester's website before I posted and they did not show them. Should be a good bullet for the 270. After this box is gone, try the Accubond CT's for yor 270.

I personally used the Winchester Supreme line of ammo since about 1994. Started with the Failsafes then the PG's in 1997 and then the Accubonds in 2004. Since 2005, I been reloading, but always will reccomend the Supreme line of ammo.
 
Before reloading I only used Winchester supreme Partion golds in the 300wm.
175yds broke both shoulders on a moose and grouped good too. I just ordered three boxes from Russels I find they stand up better on tough bone shots than the accubonds, though I have never had a problem with them the Abs either and are probably my favorite. I have used the 180 gr power points in 30-06 for island bears and never had a problem. I find the power points to be a good bullet though definately not as tough or fancy as the newer bonded bullets.
