I just bought one of these, the marine model. It'll be my first experience with a Turkish made gun, so I'd like to hear from anyone that has one of these. Any thoughts and opinions, good or bad are appreciated.
Either way won't change my mind obviously since it's already on it's way, but I'd still like to hear from you. Many thanks!

It doesn't really matter where it is made, it is made under the control and name and specifications of Winchester.

It's a fine shotgun in various configurations

Well thanks guys. Although I was hoping that more people would chime in. Maybe they aren't as common as I thought they'd be.

I have several of these, they are made in a Winchester operated Turkish factory with American Winchester Managers, Winchester design and CNC manufacturing, its an awesome gun

The basic design is very old... in the mid 60's... and they have been tweaking it through the years... 1200, 1300, SXP...

it's the fastest 12 gauge pump...

... and with the Invector Plus choke tubes and the factory over bored barrel you have one of the best 12 gauge barrels out there...

My thoughts as well, which is why I went with the marine model rather than the blued, which has a fixed cylinder bore barrel, I believe. The chrome plated chamber and bore is also an excellent feature.

I have owned two Defenders over the years - but they were the old ones actually made by Winchester. In my opinion, they may have been the best short-barrelled-pump 12 gauge out there. I should have NEVER gotten rid of mine. I know where one of them is, but I can guarantee the owner will never part with it. The new Turkish Defenders look quite a bit different, they handle nice, but I am not sure if the build quality will ever match the old Winnies.

I've been shooting it quite a bit and really like it except for one thing. Since for most of the year I'm wearing bulky clothing, I find the length of pull to be a bit long. I'm currently trying to find a buttstock from the compact model of SXP, which is 13" versus the 13 3/4" of the buttstock it came with.
I'm not sure if it's available in black synthetic though or just wood or camo
