Is it normal for a Winchester SXP to double feed shells when you don't have a super tight grip on the gun? Ive noticed for this gun to run reliably you must have a very tight grip, shoulder the gun aggressively and cycle the action hard and fast. I know this is the proper way to handle a shotgun but would would this gun be consistently double feeding when not handled like this? My buddy has the same SXP and it has never double feeded under any circumstances. Any advice is appreciated.

Mine will eject stout loads or half eject them but perhaps your magazine tube is letting rounds out early like said above. I found this happens with challenger and my specific Mossberg 500... Other shells are ok

the little hook that holds the round in the tube may have some damage
Yes, this is likely. The shell stop at the mouth of the magazine tube is either worn, sticking, or defective right from the get go. Replacing mag stops is a simple matter. If the gun is still covered by warranty this shouldn’t be happening.
