Just wondering how the newer SXP Winchester Pumps stack up when specificaly compared to the old 1200/1300 models? I'm thinking of getting another Defender. Only reason I'm considering a new one is because I'll probably pay the same for an older used model. I really love the old models, I'm worried the newer SXP won't have a comparable "feel" or performance. There aren't really any gun shops in my area where I could handle one. Anyone have experience with both the old 1300 and the new SXP that can chime in? Any help would be apprciated

New sxp are very reliable. I like the action, very smooth; compared to sxp, Remington's and mossbergs are clunky like 20 year old transit bus. Drawbacks are stock style is different so can't put one of those fancy stocks on, mag tube design is such that you can't put extension on(it sticks out further then muzzle). I would buy another in a heart beat if you are not going to modify it, get 1200/1300 if you wanna mod it.

I used to have an sxp. Then a 2 dollar plastic part broke and Winchester "does not manufacture that part separately". I tried buying an equivalent part from a 1300 but they are not interchangeable. Customer service 0/10. It's action is lightning fast and the thing handles like a dream. All the controls are where they should be and honestly the design is better than an 870 IMO. But God help you if you break it (not difficult)

My SPX has worked great ..From trap shooting to 3.5 for geese.

No issues as of yet and i shoot 600 rnds a month at the trap range.

There are stocks options available....
