winchester wildcat 22

Funny, because there is Winchester Wildcat .22LR ammunition and the Winchester Wildcat .22 rifle.

I've played with the ammunition a bit, fun stuff gives a good snap when let off. Decently accurate too, well, enough for buggering around that is.

Many years ago Winchester screwed Canada with a whole bunch of Win Wildcat ammo, it would not meet spec. so the could not sell it in US.
Federated Co-op bought it all and wholesaled it to dealers , and all their co-op stores, cheap as hell.
Miss fire rate was about 20-30% if I remember right. So Don't matter how good it is now ,I will not deal in the ####.

Looks pretty cool with some interesting features like the quick take-down to allow cleaning from the rear.
10 round flush mags are nice.
Good iron sights.
Super lightweight.

The new Winchester Wildcat rifle is a plastic stocked semi-auto.

At one time, within the last two decades, Winchester marketed a Russian-made rifle, the TOZ 78, as the Winchester Wildcat. It is quite different from the more recent version.

I've been waiting for them to trickle into Canada and will grab one to possibly replace my Mossberg Blaze as a throw around "plastic plinker".
As Can-Down has stated they have a list of features I find quite appealing.
They also readily accept BX-10 mags,of which I have a couple few of kickin' around.

I placed my order for one on January 7th, still waiting for it lol. When I placed the order Winchester was saying early spring delivery. The latest update I got was last week, apparently they’re shipping them now for delivery around Christmas time but based on their track record I’m not holding my breath. From what I can see they’re not even available in the US yet so who knows

Thanks for the info 22forever.
It certainly makes sense because I know when I'm waiting for a newly released firearm or item to come to Canada I will always watch reviews on youtube or the stateside forums and there have been none to speak of on the wildcat besides the couple of promo vids done by Winchester.

The older Wildcat rifles were quality guns. Based on the Toz 78 from Russia but with better wood. Very accurate, really tight chambers. I've been wanting one for quite awhile. I have a Toz78 and it out shoots my CZ's easily and gives my Anschutz sporter a run for its money.

I called Winchester and they told me to expect them available for Boxing Day sales, or spring. The cabelas catalog now has them so I’m hoping for on the shelf in the spring.

I never bought one of the Russian ones ages ago because the prospect of not being able to find mags turned me off . now I wish I had bought on just for the hell of it . Russian guns are made to function .
